TBJ Stands with Israel
The atrocities since October 7th have emboldened our TBJ community to support and create long-term impact in our Homeland. After trips to Israel and careful consideration, our TBJ leaders have determined that our resources will be most impactful through a partnership with Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Kibbutz Nir Oz suffered a 25 percent loss of life and the complete destruction of infrastructure. This devastation has left physical and emotional trauma that is unfathomable. Our partnership will provide the short- and long-term resources as they attempt to heal. In addition, our vision is to have our partnership blossom into deep relationships for decades to come.
The TBJ-Kibbutz Nir Oz partnership will embody our shared belief in pikuach nefesh or “saving a life” in the following ways:
Short-Term Impacts
- Provide trauma support services
- Restore identity and purpose
- Rebuild and support community
Long-Term Impacts
- Build intercontinental relationships
- Create multigenerational connection and learning opportunities
- Establish a shared home for in-person visits
We are raising an unprecedented $1 million for this partnership. A $500,000 dollar-for-dollar match has been established thanks to the generosity of the Cooperman Family. This partnership will have a deep, lasting impact on both communities. TBJ will serve as an inspirational example for other Jewish faith communities to follow our lead.
