Lifecycles

At TBJ we come together to share life’s joys and sorrows. Throughout all phases of life, our clergy and staff are available to answer questions, provide Jewish insights and officiate at your life cycle event.

Such events may include baby namings, wedding ceremonies, conversion to Judaism, care during illness, and funerals/memorial services. Through ancient traditions and modern interpretations, we will work with you to craft ceremonies, services, and celebrations that place the stages and milestones of our lives into a Jewish perspective.

Pastoral Care & Healing

Throughout life’s most joyous and painful moments, our clergy are available to our members for pastoral counseling. This may include those facing serious illness and challenging health choices or the spectrum of emotions that arise during a happy season. By integrating our warm personal support along with the perspectives of our Reform Jewish tradition, we are here to bring you and your family strength and guidance.

Birth

As you prepare to welcome your newest family members, the clergy at TBJ are available to work with you to craft a meaningful Jewish ceremony to mark the occasion. We assist with the selection of names, facilitate naming ceremonies, and assist you in selecting a mohel for the brit milah (circumcision ceremony). Baby naming ceremonies can be held privately or during Shabbat services.

B’nai Mitzvah

The B’nai Mitzvah experience is a wonderful journey of learning and community, with your family at the center. To learn more about the B’nai Mitzvah journey click here.

Conversion to Judaism

Conversion is a challenging and powerful process of preparation, which includes a period of study, participation in Jewish communal life, and developing one’s Jewish identity. The Conversion is made official by visiting the Mikvah (Jewish ritual bath) and receiving a Hebrew name.

Weddings

TBJ Clergy are delighted to officiate your wedding ceremony! We will work with you in the months leading up to your wedding date to help prepare you and your partner for all the excitement and meaning that lies ahead.  Please be in touch with us as you are setting your date.

End of Life

TBJ clergy and staff are here to answer your questions about Jewish funerals and mourning rituals, and to provide personal guidance, Jewish insights, and written materials as you cope with loss.

At the time of death, please notify the Temple immediately at (973) 379-1555 and you will be placed in contact with a member of clergy, who will work directly with you regarding the funeral, memorial service or shiva minyan.
