Welcoming Our New Assistant Cantor Beth Reinstein

As Rabbi Gewirtz wrote to you a few weeks ago, we have been amid a search process to restructure our clergy team to include an Assistant Cantor. We are delighted to be able to share that after an extensive search process, led by committee chairs Charlie Oransky and Susie Eilenberg, we will welcome Beth Reinstein as our new Assistant Cantor beginning July 1, 2025.

Beth, her husband Julian and their son, Noah will join us this summer following her ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.

Born and raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Beth’s first introduction to music came through joining Temple Beth Emeth’s youth choir. In 2013 Beth received a degree in jazz and contemporary voice from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Following college, Beth had an extensive secular music career touring and recording with her band, “Elle Casazza” from 2012-2020. During that time, Beth began to serve the greater Chicago area as a Cantorial soloist and song leader.

Since her time in cantorial school, Beth has served as student cantor at two of the premiere congregations in our movement; Washington Hebrew Congregation in Washington, DC and Central Synagogue in New York City, where she has been the Cantorial Intern for the past 3 years.

With a background in jazz and a powerful musical voice, Beth blends artistry with spirituality. Her extensive training and deep commitment to both traditional and contemporary expressions of Jewish liturgy make her an exciting addition to our team and a beautiful fit for our community. Beyond her professional achievements, Beth brings a passion for community building through music. Her recently released original album, Shabbos Dreams, is a beautiful example of how she creatively integrates her Jewish identity and musical gifts.

We want to express our gratitude and appreciation to the entire search committee in helping us navigate this exciting transition:

Jodi Cooperman, Nancy Goldsmith, Linda Levi, Lindsay, Rosen, Richard Rosenblatt, Alexandra Rubinstein, Jeff Zissu, Charlie Oransky (chair), Susie Eilenberg (chair) and Karen Feldman (President).

We look forward to welcoming Beth to our congregational family and to sharing in the unique gifts she will bring to our community.
